Classroom

Classroom – The Northern hills of Haiti are quiet these days. Roads are uncertain, families are scattered, and the sound of children’s laughter outside the school gates has grown faint. But behind these challenges lies a story that continues, often unseen: the story of children who still dream of learning.

Take Maya, an 11-year-old from a small village near Gros-morne. Before this year’s turmoil, she walked every morning with her younger brother to a classroom that had become her second home. There, she discovered the joy of reading aloud, of writing her first essay, of learning that the world was larger than the path between her house and the market.

Today, the school benches stand empty far too often. Communication with teachers and families has been difficult, sometimes impossible. Yet when we do manage to hear from them, the message is always the same: “We are waiting. We are ready to return. Education is our hope.”

At Fondation Foucard, we believe these words carry the weight of Haiti’s future. Education is not simply about textbooks or lessons, t is about resilience, dignity, and the chance to imagine a life beyond crisis. Every child in the North deserves that chance.

Even in silence, the work continues. Materials are safeguarded, teachers remain committed, and communities hold on to the belief that their children’s classrooms will reopen fully, stronger than before.

This is where your support matters most. In times when progress feels paused, your generosity becomes a promise that when the doors reopen, the children will not return to empty rooms, but to a place of light, learning, and hope.

Haiti’s challenges are immense. But so is the determination of its children. Together, we can make sure that when the next chapter begins, the story they walk into is one of opportunity and renewal.

Will you stand with us today, so that Marie and thousands like her chttps://fondationfoucard.org/donate/an step back into the classroom tomorrow?
